FEATURES:
STEADY LIGHT OUTPUT
- Flicker-free light down to 3-4 MPH.
INTEGRATED USB CHARGER
- Charge your phone, GPS, or any other USB device directly from the Beacon; no need for a separate charger.
FLEXIBLE POWER OPTIONS
- An external, off-the-shelf USB battery pack can be connected to maintain bright, flicker-free light even when stopped or riding slowly. Any available dynamo power replaces battery power until reaching a speed when all power is provided by the dynamo and the battery is no longer used.
750 LUMENS
- Lots of light, suitable for any style of riding.
SYMMETRICAL BEAM PATTERN
- Ideal choice for off-road riding.
SUPERIOR BRIGHTNESS AT LOW AND MEDIUM SPEEDS
- Dynamo power is optimized at low-to-medium speeds, reaching 100 lumens at 5 MPH, 375 lumens at 8 MPH, 600 lumens at 10 MPH, and 750 lumens at 13 MPH.
LOW BRIGHTNESS MODE
- A reduced brightness mode for situations where full brightness is not needed, and for easy power sharing between the light and charger.
STANDLIGHT
- A supercapacitor, charged while riding, provides about 5 minutes of standlight when stopped. The standlight can be turned off with the toggle switch.
BLINKING MODE
- A blinking mode is available when using external battery power.
COLOR OPTIONS
- We are able to mix-and-match different colors for the front, middle, and back of the Beacon. Pick a combination that matches your bike or represents your country or team. Contact us about custom colors.
MOUNTING OPTIONS
- The 10mm mounting tab is compatible with mounting hardware from B&M, Supernova, Schmidt, etc.
COMPACT DESIGN
- L x W x H - 58 x 42 x 42mm
- 115g (includes 36" dynamo wire)
TAILLIGHT OUTPUT
- A taillight output is available and is controlled by the headlight.
- Taillight compatibility information can be found below (bottom of description)
BETTER COLOR TEMPERATURE
- While still in the "cool white" range, the Beacon generates slightly warmer light than other LED headlights. This results in less glare, and less strain on your eyes, and does a better job reproducing natural colors.
WEATHERPROOF
- Designed to be used in any condition. Multiple seals protect against water ingress, electronics are potted in epoxy, and all connectors are gold-plated and designed to resist the elements.
MADE IN THE USA
- All Sinewave products are made in the USA. The Beacon is the only commercially available dynamo light made in the USA.
WARRANTY
- 3 years
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
- The Beacon comes with a USB-to-DC cable.
- A mount is not included - there are many options available for different mounting locations. Contact us if you need advice about mounting options.
BEACON 2 TAILLIGHT COMPATIBILITY
The Beacon is compatible with most dynamo taillights, with the requirement that they do not ground to the bicycle frame. Compatible taillights include:
- Schmidt SON
- B&M Secula
- B&M Micro
- B&M Toplight (see below regarding 'Brake' version)
- Supernova E3
- The E3 does not contain a standlight capacitor. Therefore the Beacon, but not the E3 taillight, will remain on when stopped.
- Exposure RedEye (with series resistor, see below)
- The RedEye does not contain a standlight capacitor. Therefore the Beacon, but not the RedEye taillight, will remain on when stopped.
Many other taillights are compatible. Please contact us if you have any questions about a particular taillight.
SUPERNOVA E3 TAILLIGHT
Beacon 2 is compatible with the Supernova E3 Taillight and does NOT require the extra 60Ω resistor that was recommended for Beacon 1.
Also note that the E3 does not contain its own standlight so it will not remain illuminated when the bike is stopped.
EXPOSURE REDEYE TAILLIGHT
The Exposure RedEye can be used with the Beacon, although a 150Ω resistor is required to be wired in series between the Beacon and the RedEye. Unlike the Supernova E3, where the resistor is a strong recommendation, it is a requirement for the RedEye - without it, the RedEye will short out the Beacon and put far too much power into the taillight. A resistor rated for at least 1W is recommended.
B&M BRAKETEC TAILLIGHTS
We have heard of some issues with the B&M Toplight Line Brake Plus. This taillight monitors the AC signal from the dynamo and blinks when it detects the bike slowing down quickly. Due to the Beacon's DC taillight output the expectation is that the Brake feature will not work but the rest of the light will operate normally. However, it appears that the taillight 'times out' after some period without seeing an AC signal and turns the taillight off. If using a Toplight Line taillight, we recommend avoiding the Brake version, if possible.
